Change begins in the imagination, in the ability to dream that things can be done differently. As we learn to love, value, and honor the Earth, we will also learn to love, value, and honor each other – because compassion breeds compassion, and because to recognize that we are each individually of the Earth is to understand that we are all connected. We are dependent upon the Earth; we are in this together.
Thinking is a form of action, and a form of resistance. To be thoughtful implies taking the time to weigh consequences and to consider various perspectives, which results in tolerance for complexity as well as other points of view. The more able we are to think critically, the more we are able to withstand control of any kind. Thinking is also creative - we must first think the world we want to live in.
We are at a tipping point. To accept the status quo means not only accepting a world of worsening climate disasters and the resulting social, economic, and political effects that these disasters will have, but also means accepting a worldview in which we as human beings are lacking in compassion, adaptability, and resilience. To reject the status quo requires a reimagining of our relationships to each other, and to the planet we inhabit – a reimaging of how and what we value.
Embracing change can be difficult, but it is less so when we know that we are not alone. When we think together, what emerges is greater than the sum of its parts.
When we think together, we Think the World Differently.
